The cash register bell rings twice for Michelle Herzog every time she sells a can of C2 brand paint at her new boutique, Colori, in Bucktown. As a shareholder in the company that produces the paint and the owner of the first business to deal exclusively in C2, Herzog aims to build a brick-and-mortar business while increasing her company's stock. The title of shareholder also gives her a shot every year at serving on the committee that names the company's paint varieties. Hot Tamale, James Brown, and Al Green are just a few of the nontraditional monikers the group has assigned its colors. Some of the food and drink aficionados in the company have provided labels such as curry, tiramisu, margarita and blue moon, she said. "They just sit around and drink wine and come up with different color names," she said. Opened in May at 2243 W. North, Colori sports a modern design that combines chemistry lab with artist's studio. Herzog said the boutique is illuminated with special bulbs that simulate daylight common to most people's homes.
