When Michele Fitzpatrick first approached me to be the colorist for the newly redesigned SmartHome her first thought was to bring the home to an entirely new level of design. Most importantly we agreed we wanted to show that being “green” does not have to be muted, boring and limiting with colors. It can be bold, ultra hip and funky, from furniture to fabrics and countertops to color options for painting.
The inspiration began with the fabulous John Beck recycled steel dining room table. My first thoughts were industrial, rock n roll. This girl means business.
Let me paint you a picture as we explore together the colors of the new and improved Smart Home: Green + Wired at the Museum of Science& Industry:
Living Room:
Curry C2-150 – A spicy gold with a dash of turmeric and the leaves of a kaffir lime
Powder Room:
Peppermint C2-231 – This delicate green has a smoky presence that can at times whisper blue
Kitchen:
Whiteout C2-480 – A white as brilliant as an Arctic blizzard
Dining Room:
Wicked C2-001 – This is a Tyrian purple gone bad, so bad that it’s on parole thanks to the sinful black undertones
Babies Room:
Lip Service C2-026 - No need to worry about minimal compliance with this pink. This color is a spirited Tangerine Pink that’s all about the attitude
Savile Row C2-322– A warmly intense gray and with its woven threads of magenta this color will never leave you cold….Bespoke at its best!
Architectural White C2-016 – The most innocent and purest of whites
Boys Room:
Churchill C2-230 - Its namesake of the Canadian Northern reaches, often displays a silky movement of sea teal that reflects onto the sky
Kids Bathroom:
Amontillado C2-119 – A Naples yellow that is as fortified as its namesake
Mater Bedroom:
Artesian C2-473 – A warm gray with a strong foundation like bedrock. Undertones of red rise to the surface and flow into any space as a solid companion hue….yabba dabba doo
Curtain Call C2-004 – This sultry Violet red will play the starring role in your passion play. It will keep you entertained up until its final bow.
Master Bathroom:
Melodic C2-462 – An even tempo’d gray with a green timbre
Garage/Work Area:
Salty Brine C2-235 – Think of the green cool shallow ocean water under the froth of the foam of a gentle tide
